Yoga today is what you want it to be, everyone is in a differnet stage and we are all on the search for greater harmony and peace in the body, mind and spirit. It has been my finding that most people in the West today, start a Yoga practice for the physical aspect of the poses, to create a healthier, stronger body. Once you start it quickly becomes clear that the mind and the spirit are right along for the ride. Not only the obvious, that you start to look better and feel more confident but you start to notice a change in your thoughts. Your thoughts on your practice, your thoughts on your life. Why am I doing this? where do I want to go? how can I put so much effort into learning the technique of such an old and wise practice and not take a deeper look within? But it is through this looking within that it all starts to unfold, what started as a physical practice becomes a physical, emotional and spiritual journey. And isn't that what life is all about. THE JOURNEY!!! No matter where we end up don't we at least want to know that we were the captain of our own ship? Well to me that's what Yoga has given me, the orr's to my own boat. And whether I set sail for a short and sweet row through the still, calm water's or I end up fighting the largest storm you can imagine. I am in control, and I will be in charge of my own destiny. No one can ask for more than that. So whether you find your way to Yoga to master the physical, tame the mind or to find your soul, be assured your ship will pass all these along the way and each time it does, you will come that much closer to your destination.
HARMONY within.
