Yoga in the city.........

Yoga in the city..........
During Savasana of my last Yoga session, we all went from being in the stillness of the moment to wait a moment, Led Zeppelin?...........now for me it was a personal sign........ask me how I know this (it was the song that got me shakin' it all over the place again, and is a big part of where I am at this moment)........for all the other Yogis and Yoginis in the class it was a distraction in the moment...........as we were finishing up our class late, an Arena staff member decided it was time to get his 'groove on'.........and lo' and behold to one of my favourite songs............so as everyone lay in the dark, in their breath, deepening into themselves and as I was working towards leading everyone back to the present moment........there was music to our ears or for many just a distraction...now what was I to do? I know what I wanted to do in the moment.........of course "shake it off" and so I did what any good instructor would do........I slowly worked to get everyone to their feet and had them all "shake it off".....some participated, some were amused, but what we all got out of that moment was that there may be distractions that throw you off or interfere with your moments..........it is not that you are distracted that should concern you, it is how you react to those distractions that you should be concerned with........are you able to remain within.........are you able to react in a manner that takes that distraction and incorporates it into the existing moment......and go with the flow........this seems simple enough for some, for others it is a true task. Learning to continue to be 'within' and allow for the unexpected is a true gift.........when we learn this gift it applies to every situation in our life..........leaving us with the ability to 'be' in the moment, even if that moment distracts us from our current activity........there will always be something, someone that can sway or shift our attention from the moment.........the question is whether we are able to stay in the moment, focused and balanced..........remembering that sometimes when we are pulled from our inner moments of peace and quiet back into the world of our own realities, there is a purpose, far beyond that which we may understand in that moment..........lulling us back into the reality of our existence, giving us the opportunity to reach beyond what is expected of a moment and giving way to the unexpected, to change and to truly living in the moment..........Namaste
