'Saving' a Bird

Today not unlike many other days my life has come to clarity......through a 'bird'....yep, again.....this morning my little one's called me to the back door to show me a bird who is trapped in our neighbors Berry patch......come to think of it, he was there yesterday....I just didn't realize he was trapped....I went to the neighbors, no one home....I went to see if I could get the bird out and for the life of me I can't figure out how he got himself into this 'situation'......as soon as he felt my presence and heard my voice which to him apparently didn't sound like 'singing', he began to squawk and unsuccessfully flail himself against the 'chicken wire' fence that has him confined....all because he wanted a wonderful, juicy, god given gift of the 'Berry'....I 'informed' the bird your only choice at this moment is to calm down, lie down, rest and wait until the neighbors arrive home and I make sure you get out and are 'Free' once again...........I know now you are wondering how this brings clarity to me........well I am not too unlike that 'Bird' and neither are we all............we are free and soaring, singing our song one moment and then we go for something, well, wonderful, juicy and God given........unfortunately sometimes we don't see all the trappings that may be lying in wait.......if both the bird and ourselves could stop, look, wait.....we might find that we sense or even see the folly that lies before us....but alas like most we are impatient....for many reasons....we are hungry,,,,,starved,,,,,,,sometimes just plain glutenous.........I too at some points feel trapped inside my own 'chicken wire'........and feel as if I am trying to bang my way out of situations that are, with no pun intended 'fruitless'.....so I am learning...just like the bird in the backyard that sometimes all we can do is become calm and patient and wait....there is 'help'......it is there, for this bird anyway.....call it a Yogic lesson.....call it a 'bird trapped in my neighbors backyard'......or call me crazy...........it is amazing to me how some of the simplest of events in our existence can give us a clarity about all things...........and when I get to the neighbors this evening.....I know there will be more than one 'bird' being set free............Namaste

Footnote: ...........that 'FreeBird' is flying high once again........Namaste
